Drive East, a festival focusing on South Asian music and dance, performed on Wednesday with separate presentations exploring two dance forms: first, Odissi with Sonali Mishra, and later, Kathak featuring Shambhavi Dandekar. Sonali Mishra is a performer of the classical Indian Odissi dance. She has trained extensively in Orissa, India, with renowned Gurus Smt. Aruna Mohanty, Guru Sri Bichitrananda Swain and Sri Ramesh Chandra Jena and is continuing her dance training with renowned Smt. Sujata Mohapatra. Sonali has performed as a soloist in various festivals in India, Canada, the US, UK and Malaysia including the Mahari Award Festival, the International Odissi Festival and the Asian American Dance Festival.
